i took the steering column out between the rag joint and the firewall to replace what i thought was a bad lower bearing, but the bearing is in great shape, it is bad between the bearing and the neck coming out of the firewall. i removed the retainer clip and pulled of the little metal cap, and ther is a white plastic sleeve inside the neck, but the outside of the bearing does not touch this sleeve except at the very bottom, am i missing a part or is this thing suppose to be loose???
anbody that has any experience with this please help, i wanted to drive it home tonight!
    thanks
