Does anyone know where I can obtain a tailgate mounted Spare Tire Carrier?

Was there a factory issued outside the tailgate carrier for the 86 body style?

It doesn't mount on the tailgate itself but SEC offers a bumper mounted one. Check it out...http://coloradok5.com/vendors/sec.html

I have one that was sold by J.C Whitney. It's made by Valley. It works but not the best of quality. Gets the weight off the body. The vally unit put some strain on the gate and I think it contributed to the failure of the gate switch in the latch.
If I had to do it again I would go with a bumper mounted one like the SEC mentioned. I think SEC also sells one that will work with a stock bumper.

It's not my damn planet monkey boy!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh......the gate switch. I just got a replacement gate switch yesterday.

My whole gate wiring was torn out by the teenager that owned my truck before me. I have the factory wiring diagram but it is kinda vague. Do you, or anyone else, have a more straight forward wiring diagram for the tailgate. I was going to rewire it myself next week but I thought I'd ask to see if anyone can make it easier. I think I'll start a new thread for this question.
