ive traced all the wires under the hood, they all check good
could there be a problem under the dash that caused my
fuse link to burn up? like maybe the ignition switch?

My 82 did that when the alternater messed up and started overcharging the batteries. Replaced it and everything was ok.
So you may want to have the alt. checked out to see if its putting out to many volts.
