I am installing new front springs on my 78. The existing setup has a thin plastic peice between the spring and spring perch and between the spring and u-bolt plate. What are these for? They are not in very good shape. Should I replace them?

I think those are factory parts for either noise or "lubrication".

Yeah, i remeber those things. What they are or were were teflon pads for lubrication so there would be no squeaking.
