The paint on my light blue 89 K5 is flakeing off. This is a problem I have noticed with other blazers around the same years as mine. Does any one know if Chevy recalled the paint on Blazers? Has anyone got GM to pay for a paint job?
It is definatly a problem with the OEM paint or application.
I know Ford had a problem with paint on their trucks and cars and they paid to have them repainted even after the warrentee was long expired. I was hoping that someone might know if GM was doing the same
Thanks for any info you can give.

I would check with GM. I know they have a phone # you can call for info like that. I think you can find the number in the owners manual. When we bought my wifes Sunbird I had problems with the electrical system and on the 3rd time I took it back to the dealer I called GM, and have not had the problems since (almost 5 years now) I called. Just my $.02 worth.

I have an '88. The previous owner told me that there was a recall on the primer that year and he had it repainted by the dealer for free. I don't know how you go about gettting that done but apperently it can be done. Hope that helps some.

Your might want to talk with the body shop manager at the local Chevy dealer first. My neighbor in Texas had an '89 Beretta that was peeling (black paint) and I mentioned to him that it was a known defect and that GM would re-paint it for him. He stopped by the local Chevy dealer and asked them about it and they repainted the hood, roof and trunk, under an extended warranty program from GM. This was several years ago though. I don't know if they would consider fixing the paint on a 12-year-old vehicle though. But it doesn't cost a dime to ask! [IMG]
