Help! Welded 14b spiders and don\'t like it

Welded up my spiders to the big gear at the bottom of the case after I split the case today. Went for a test drive and feel like I made a BIG mistake. The driveline feels way too tight on pavement. I have Detroits in my Yota and my Heep and love em. My question is, what does it take to get the spiders and the larger gear underneath out in one piece? I want to put a Detroit in. I only welded gear to gear, nothing to the case itself. Think I need a new case? Any help mucho appreciated. Sean

Pull the carrier and split the case in half again. Pull the whole works out and swap in the detroit. As long as you didn't weld to the carrier you should be fine. Honestly if you had it apart enough to weld, this should be very obvious...

Thanks. I didn't pull the cross shaft and spiders out of the half, thus I wasn't sure if that gear on the bottom will just lift out with a little persuasion.

I'll trade you straight across a set of unwelded spiders if you want to go back. I've got a nice set sitting in my garage floor. OR just split the case apart and run with it. 14 bolts are EASY

As soon as it stops raining I'm gonna tear it apart again. If it comes out, in with a Detroit, Kyle can have it as long as he pays shipping. Thanks for the info Trusty. Sean

Can you expand on "tight". ...I am thinking the always on feeling, kinda
like you feel as its going to break but I cant be sure. I did some testing and I
like it, but my gf says that she thinks its creating a very weird feel when you accelerate
    from 0mph.

Sorry for not getting back sooner. O.K., by tight I mean it almost feels like the entire driveline is binding, similar to having mixed gears front to rear if that makes sense. It's like I feel the driveline loading and unloading with every slip of the inside tire. It doesn't do that with my other trucks with Detroits. When I drive it, I'm waiting for the 208 to crack, u joint to go south, this, that, or the other thing to break. Ordered my Detroit yesterday from 4WPH yesterday, shipping it to my house by Friday. It's funny, I live 10 minutes from their store, and very rarely do they have my parts in stock. Well, I hope this explains things better for those that want to know. Sean

I guess I should also mention my welding skills are getting better, but I don't have full confidense about the welds to drive this thing on the streets with no worries. My 2 girls like riding with me, and if it's gonna break, it willl happen when they are with me. Just my luck. Sean
