I will try to explain. i just got my head back from my 350. i see the push rods, the rockers, the studs and bolts and these little things that i cant figure out. they are about 1-1/2 inches tall cylinders. one end is totally sealed and covered but the other end appears to have some bearing held in by a clip. i assume it it part of the head or rocker assembly. if you have a clue what it is or where it goes please let me know. the head is not new it was pulled off my old engine by my brother. long story. where do the lifters go?

It sounds like a lifter, which goes in the block not the head. With it being part of the head it would be the springs but you can tell a spring by looking at.

The lifters go in the block. There are little cylinders that these fit into in the center of the engine right above the camshaft. The flat end goes down and rides on the camshaft, and the cupped end is what holds the push rod and lifts it up.
