Hey all, the burro broke tonight. If I don't get a part, and quick, will not make the dunes this weekend. On the 250 6 cylinder, there is a housing that bolts to the front of the head and turns up. The t stat sits on top of it, and then the water neck. Well, my housing broke tonight, putting in a new temp sending unit. It leaks pretty profusely now. I have been on the net for over 2 hours trying to find one, with no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Mike I know the problem, the burro is fighting back for making her run around topless. :):)

How about the guy east of town on the north side of the highway? He has 6 or 8 different GM trucks setting there rusting away, he might have a 6 banger in one of them. Also at Cimmarron there is that old garage with trucks of varing degrees that might be a place to check. Hope you get the problem fixed quickly.

I will make a couple calls today and see if I have any luck. I will let you know. Gotta hit some parts stores and a buddy with a stash of gm parts anyway.

Hey Scott, look back on the North side, there was a 6 popper truck unless they crushed it.

Any way you can weld your old one temporarily or is it stripped at the temp sender?

Can't weld it. The crack is from the threads inward. Being cracked, the housing will not grip the sending unit tight enough to seal, even with teflon tape. I am starting to believe that there are some drawbacks to having a "unique" drivetrain. If it keeps breaking hard to find parts, that 429 could find itself being crossbred.:eek1: :eek1:

There were several appiclable trucks, but they are gone now. Only one 1st gen style pickup with no motor. Looked through a couple of newer 73-78 pickups too. No luck.

The did have a 89-90 burb - no motor of course - and a 90 2wd 1-ton crew cab - motor missing everything but the block.

Just talked to Mike a few minutes ago. He ordered a new one from the dealer and will have it tomorrow. I found a backup used one for him also in case the dealer falls through.

I think I'd settle for a bowl of dirt. I've seen enough water in the last 4 weeks to last me a lifetime.
