HEY GUYS...I WAS PLAYING IN THE JUNKYARD TODAY...

    and i found a rear end out of a 71-71 chevy c-20...the truck is two wheel drive but the rear is an 8 lug...looks like a full floater...my only problem is...its not a 14 bolt...its got a round cover with 10 bolts in it and a drop in third member like a ford 9"...what the heck is this thing and if its cheap should i pick it up????????

    I no axle expert, but I believe it is an eaton...

    It's an Eaton... Parts are limited for it so I wouldn't get it unless you can get a killer deal.

    Solo is right. Eaton. That was the 1 ton rear before the 14. It's tough to find parts for it though (from what I hear). You can get a detroit locker and gears as low as......dang, I forget....in the 7.xx's I believe if I recall correctly.

    eaton sure thing...
    some of them came with 5:13.1gears and even a detroit.[​IMG]
    might be worth a look to see what it has.
