I was kinda following your posts and thought maybe you would like some info your replies have prompted.....Your wiper motor is fairly new ($140) dealer item....the steering column is rebuilt (about 5 yrs ago?)...that was at a shop in Mesquite ($80).....the steering box was gone thru/resealed just before I parked it.....I replaced the nylon rollers, etc in the tailgate window.....I've had it apart several times, and never could get it to loosen up....I've used scotch brite pads to clean everything, relubed, you name it....I'm really pullin' for ya to figger that one out......I think I changed the nylon rollers in the doors also, and cleaned and rubbed, etc....the rotors and drums have never been turned since I replaced Everything about 45K ago...brakes at both ends are new from the backing plates out (calipers and pistons also)....if I think of anything else, I'll try to pass it along.....you also refer to it as "ugly" and not very pretty.....Please.....I would prefer to think of it as having the look of......uhhh......"maturity"....or how 'bout "seasoned veteran".......I'm glad it's finally gettin' the things done to it that I always meant to, but never got a round tuit......I'm just glad she has such a terrific new family....best of luck....JD

I'm at 10th and Plum....10 miles from nowhere, and Plum out in the sticks....Stuck?...Hell no..I still got some gas left..

The "seasoned vetran" is doing really good. We're planning on paint this summer so she'll be a real beauty soon. We joke about her being ugly, but we know what kinda truck she is. It's nice cause the yuppies in their pretty little SUV's are scared of me. He he!! I sprayed some White Graphite lube (er was it White Lithium grease) on the gears on the back window and that helped a lot. I don't want it too easy though cause it's a good theft deturant. Besides, I could use the work out. We got her stuck the other day (testing the new warn hubs and front drive shaft). Ha ha! Had to finally call a tow truck. The front axle was completly under mud. Half the front bumper was under also. I didn't keep my feet so dry (read signature). I can't wait for my tax return check. It's going to get us a 4" lift and BFG Mudders! Woohoo!!! By the way..the whole "Smurf" thing has really caught on with all the buddies. She's doing really well. We've got a whole new exhaust system on her. New headers back to 2 1/2" pipe to Flowmasters and out the side like it was before. I've had several compliments on the sound. She's only loud when you mash it, other wise it's a nice purrr. She's got a 4" tall K&N open air filter with a filter wrap around that. I think there's pics of it on my site. There are no problems breathing in the good air and out the bad air! She's a torky son of a gun. We got the radio working! I think I might let you ponder over that one for a while! Ha ha!!! As soon as I get her lifted, I'll come pull you out of the mud...what do ya say?

I'm lookin' forward to seein' what you can do.....so far the grill looks great...as far as bein' stuck.....LOL......let me know when ya have her in so deep ya can't see the door handles...I have also stuck it up to the white paint...With the 19ft Ski Boat attached.....gumbo mud...not water....that was the worst as far as getting out.....as far as the radio, I figured I had blown a channel either in the Alpine EQ, or in the radio itself...the front speakers are fairly new as I remember.....the only real concern I got to thinkin' about was what was under the carpet.....(third carpet by the way)....I was out in the shop today getting the Jimmy ready to go to Martinsville, and I really noticed the big empty space......there's a guy in Allen who has a '53 Hudson Hornet Twin H for sale pretty reasonable...and it's georgeous!!.....waddya think??......JD

I was wondering how long it would take you to fill that space! LOL!!! That sounds pretty cool! We pulled out all of the old wire you had under the dash, sorted everything out, and rewired it. I've got to sodder one wire so it will quit cutting out every time you hit a bump, but I plan on doing that today. Door handles, huh? I don't know if I want to get her that stuck. We found where the header had burnt the insulation off the wire to the fuel guage. It works great now! She's really a blast! After driving her for a while, I drove the camaro and was getting really mad at the people who were cutting me off and pulling out in front of me...grrr! I had already gotten spoiled! Ha ha!!!

by the way...do you still have the parts to mount a spare tire on the spare tire carrier? Or did you use a bolt, like we did (laughing).

I promise I'll try to poke around the garage for those pieces to the tailgate carrier....and anything else I can find that I forgot....like the bolts to the backseat....and the two extra rollpins for the tailgate handle....a pile of receipts (if you want them for some reason)....and the extra Ignition Module I Always carry with me......also got a cap and rotor that I had laid out so I wouldn't forget (won't fit the 89).....Dang, Girl......ya left half yer stuff here.......LOL........JD

Well, we already got bolts for the back seat...ya should have seen all the critters running away from it!!! LOL!!! The radio that I was bragging about, well.....I can't listen to it in the rain. The windshield wiper motor broadcasts over the speakers. The turn signals do to. I just had to laugh at that cause it's so funny! LOL!!! I just patted her on the dash and said that I'm glad she finally spoke up about the radio. I don't think she likes that particular brand...hehe!!!
