We have a loooong weekend coming up. How about an afternoon trip to Chivo? Grab some fried sheekun, some libations? Pick up some drunk chicks at a bar on the way and hang out!! We can laff at the rodeos and Isuzus and stock wranglers. Is there water anywhere? Of course with the big fire the road might not be open. And I probably don't want to be seen with my Extreme Pyro bumper sticker anywhere near there. Lemme know what's up!!!!

Sounds like a plan to me/forums/images/icons/cool.gif I'll check with some of my USFS buddies and see if it's open.

**UPDATE** Per some fire management types, the Mt. Lemmon access road is closed, as is the Chivo route, courtesy of the "Bullock" fire.

The reply I got from the Forest Service was a little cryptic, but from what I gathered they're closing off all heavily used recreation areas in the area of the fire due to the volume of resources commited to the main fire - they don't want to risk anyone starting another and escalating the fire into a complex. Could be completely wrong though too - I went through fire management instead of forest management.

I just pulled some moron out of there last week! - Had a ¾ ton Dodge wedged in one of the washouts right off Silverbell, kind of got annoyed when an 18 year old rig sporting a 305 was able to pull his brand new truck out with no problem/forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I heard shitcreek was off limits by the Marana police. Anyway, I called the Pima County Sherrif's dept and talked to 2 different dept's and they both said that Reddington road was NOT closed. They are the agency that parks at the bottom and tells you to go home and as of this time there was noone there. Whatcha guys think?

Cool - like I said before, fire management is rarely on the same page as everyone else. Besides, I looked at the fire map this morning, and the only way it could threaten Chivo would be a 180 in wind direction at around 55 mph. So what day are we planning?

How about tomorrow in the afternoon. If it's anything like it was today, it'll be perfect.

Sorry 'bout that!! We had colic last night and didn't let Daddy get to bed until 7:30 AM - after which he didn't drag his dead ass out of bed till nearly 1:00.
