I cant seem to find any of the old "original" Looney Tunes" on TV anymore1--I wanted my friends son to see what I watched as a kid for cartoons, instead of all the crap they have on now..despite having the "cartoon network" on our cable, they dont play them anymore..I'm talking Bugs Bunny,The Roadrunner and Wile E.Coyote,Sylvester and Tweety,Speedy Gonzales,Foghorn Leghorn,Yosemite Sam,Peppy la Pew,etc..

I did notice a few times when I'd fall asleep with the cartoon channel on,I'd wake up at 2-3 am,and they would be on,along with Popeye the Sailor and some other "classics"--also noticed many of them had some scenes and quotes and phrases I remember distinctly "cut out" of them--this was when "politically corectness" came about...I remember some ethnic groups whining that some of them were racist,or "too voilent"-----
(same with the 3 Stooges too!)...now they seem to have been "banned" altogether!!--I bet the ones for sale on dvd and vhs are not the "original" uncut versions either!--SIGH...cant even watch a friggin cartoon anymore in this country--cant they leave ONE thing alone???

I realize this isn't exactly a huge threat to national security--but if even our cartoons are being "altered"--whats next??...BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL LOONEY TUNES!!.... :angry1: :angry1: ....guess his son will never see a REAL good cartoon.... :frown1:

Amazon.com has Classic Cartoon DVD's for sale.

I know the Cartoon Network on cable TV shows vintage cartoon in hour long time blocks and sometimes has marathons.

Here we have "Teletoon". They have "teletoon retro" on almost every day with all the warner bros classics. My kids love the older toons, and I still get my regular Foghorn Leghorn fix...

The old cartoons are unavailable here. Sucks. My oldest (5 yrs.) watches something called "Jet-X" now. I have no idea what that is all about.

growing up, I looked forward to the Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Hour every Saturday morning. That's whats wrong with the kids today, too much touchy feely, even in the cartoons.

Bugs Bunny was out a long time ago... Which is great, because it made way for GOOD cartoons like Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Futurama, Family Guy, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, Ed Edd and Eddy, 2 Stupid Dogs, Dexter's Laboratory, and pretty much ANYTHING played on Cartoon Network :D

That's almost as bad as Nick at Nite showing nothing but Roseanne now, instead of Dick Van Dyke, Get Smart, Mr. Ed, and all the other good shows they used to have. AMC quit playing old movies too, now they have movies from the 80's.

While what you have listed are good cartoons, they cannot hold a candle to the GREATEST cartoons in history, which are of course Bugs Bunny, Roadrunner, Foghorn Leghorn, and all the others in the Warner Bros. stable.

the warner brothers cartoons were the best.

We just buy all the WB videotapes and DVD's we can find. I can remember cartoons that still aren't available yet, usually featuring minor characters like the chicken hawk, or the one where beaky buzzard is raised by the pigeons with the british accent. too funny. When watching the cartoons on videotape, it's wild to see how much was cut out for commercials, political correctness, and liberal pacification.

After bugs left TV, all of the cartoons became toy commercials. Nowadays, cartoon like southpark are funny, but because they're vulgar, not witty.

The WB cartoons were witty and intelligent, and I think only the simpsons are qualified to carry that mantle nowadays, at least out of the mainstream animated shows out there.

I'd only say that in comparison to the vulgar ones that are around today

...and the Simpsons are total whores of the era. Any issus, any topic, any rediculous thing, they'll do.

So are you're saying then that playing to the obvious and going for the cheap laughs is a bad thing? Careful with that axe, eugene. .. I live my life in the realm of the obvious.

    Yes, it's insulting

"Oh look, he got kicked in the nuts, oh look, a blatant gay joke, oh look, a stupid and drunk sterotype father, a little bastard stereotype son, the shunned stereotype daughter, and the always smarter than her husband quiet stereotype mom. Woooooo...."

Underdog, Hong kong fooey, and for the Canadians; Dudly-do-right.

    myeaaahhhh,Whats Up Doc!

That must have been strange, seeing the guy who did Bugs Bunny's voice doing a live adult humor show!...I bet it was hilarious!--what was his name anyway,Mel Blanc??---

I had a friend that gave me some old "Popeye" cartoons in paperback form--they were porno's!! :haha: :rotfl: shows "Wimpy" boning some lady in exchange for hamburgers--but Popeye had to take over,Wimpy was more interested in the hamburgers than her!... :p:

While on the subject of old cartoons--remember Rocky and Bullwinkle, and his sidekicks like Dudley Do-Right(another mentioned him already!)--and Snydely Whiplash,Aseops Fables, and some others like Deputy Dawg(another favorite!)and Heckle and Jeckle, the 2 crows, Mighty Mouse,Pink Panther(probably the best "silent" cartoon ever!)and Underdog---man--I feel REALLY old now! :screwy:

I feel bad the kids of today probably will never see any of them..I've never looked in stores to buy any (dont have kids!)--but I did get a few for Xmas years ago,and I recorded Deputy Dawg and the Pink Panther years ago on VHS,so I have some of those...even though I'm in my upper 40's,I still get a kick out of watching them, and the 3 Stooges!...I'll probably never grow up!--because if I do,there's only one other thing to do--grow OLD and croak!..
