    1861- British Columbia's Governor Sir James Douglas set off on a long and
    arduous journey to see where and how to provide a wagon route to the
    recently discovered goldfields of the Caribou. Royal Engineers from Britain
    surveyed a route along the Fraser Canyon. In a unique attempt to transport
    food and construction supplies in the hot, dry interior, 21 camels were
    imported as pack animals.

    Are they joshing me by telling me that it actually gets that hot up there?

    Yup.......the interior of BC has regions that get close to 40' Celcius for at least a couple of weeks at a time. Southern Ontario can get pretty hot, too.

    We don't all live in igloos, y'know/forums/images/icons/wink.gif.........

    40C = 104F

    108F = 42C

    celcius is a real easy scale to learn
    0 is where water freezes
    100 is where water boils

    no idea if those conversions are accurate I got them <a target="_blank" href=http://home.attbi.com/~chuckfa/convert.html>HERE</a>

    My wife and I got married a little south of the Fraser Canyon...it was 110 F that day. Much cooler on the coast though.

    Ed, the inflatable ones are easier to catch, thanks for the tip!/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
