I'm just kind of curious of what y'all are thinking about this great and wonderful place that has been labeled the People's Republik of Kaliforny. Sit back and tell the world what y'all think.

I voted only cause I was a resident for 5 years (85-89) and can say at least I was a resident. Lived in Spring Valley (out by the Cajon zone - San Diego) and liked it but the cost of housing was ridiculous and the traffic was ridiculous and the emission testing was ridiculous..............and.............and............[IMG]

Oregon sucks, by the way, Kalifornians........[IMG]

Ah, well I won't be your neighbor... I plan to hit northern Idaho up in the pan handle... spent 2 months there and fell in love with the area. Talk about nice!! But for now I am in CA.... I actually love it right here. It's like the perfect location! But I am someone who likes to change scenery so that's my plan... from Idaho.... who knows where!! [IMG]

I was born in NorCal, lived in Texas for a few years and moved to SoCal in 1980. I would have been out of this place a long time ago if all of my family didn't live here.
    I don't like:
    -All the bleading heart Liberals
    -All the stupid laws!
-All the morons on the road

    I do like:
-Being close to the beach, mtn's, and desert

Never been up into Northern Idaho. Had an Army buddy that was raised on a ranch up there and he showed me some pictures. I've been all over SE Idaho and it's awesome. In fact, there's a kicka** restaurant in Pocatello I'd love to go back to, but I probably can't after the first trip.

california has been my home base for more than two-thirds of my life, so i'm not sure where i fit in your poll.
i've lived in maryland, new jersey, kansas, colorado, wyoming, arizona, and washington, and done extensive visting in a few others. texas was hot as hades, but beautiful. flat as a board, from what i saw. the locals had pride about being texans, something you don't see too much of elsewhere.
i gotta tell ya, day to day life is the same, all over. differing amounts of different things, along with scenery change, of course. more rain in seattle, more cops in bakersfield. more wind in laramie, more heat in phoenix (but it's a dry heat).
while we have kick ass geography, california does lead the way in governmental interference, it seems. when i was a squid, all the fast bikes had 49 state models, and if we got lucky, next year they made a california spec model. oh, but those canadians, lucky bastards......
anyway, i bought a house a few years ago, and i hope to sell it in about 20 years, and make enough to buy a reasonably-sized hillside somewhere. new mexico? northern arizona? montana? somewhere with a stream i can build a little water wheel for my wife to look at.......
it'd be nice if it was california, but not likely. unless it was northern, up past weed.

I love it here. The beach is an hour away. The mountains are 3 hours away, I have friends in both places where i can spend the week or the weekend.

I've never really spent a lot of time any where else, except in Army Barracks.

It is definately expensive in the SF Bay Area. But I also make more money here than I would else where for the same job and in 25 - 30 years when our house is paid off. We can sell it and almost retire anywhere else in the country with the money we will get for it (IF we want to go anywhere else, that is). The smog laws suck, but so does the smog, which is the reason for the laws.

I'm from Northern California but I moved to Colorado in december and I am quit dissapointed and I dont mean to bash on Colorado or the people but it's just not home. The wether sucks and yes I knew it would be cold and snowy but where the heck is the rain it hase'nt rained since I'v been here. I grew up on the North Coast and we would get rain from Sep-Apr or May and I loved It, it just took till now to relize it. So hopefully in a few months I'll go back home.

OK, the taxes are the high, the traffic sucks and there are too many stupid laws. But I can surf, snow bourd, go 4xing, and head out the desert all in a weekend. We have everything. I spent Christmas up in Washington and I have never seen more beautiful places, but I only saw the sun twice in 8 days. I need my sun!!
