I was driving home from school a little over an hour ago on the highway (Rt.17 north for ya'll in NY and NJ). Anyways, a few miles later, I noticed a white pickup (either an F-150 or one of those toyota fullsizes) coming off the on ramp and onto the highway.. I dunno why I noticed it. Now, I'm in the middle lane of the 3 lane highway, and there's a large ryder type truck on my right..... Suddenly, I see the white pickup slide out, front first right into all of the plowed snow that's basically in the shoulder of the highway. The ryder almost cuts me off, I had to go into the far left lane... Apparently the truck either blew a tire, or it grabbed a patch of ice and spun right into the 4' high snow bank. I dunno if anyone was hurt or not.. but it's my first time actually viewing an accident from afar. In any case.. I'm taking it slow from now on.. especially in the right lane... Ya'll do the same if you were in that crazy blizzard that hit the tri-state area. Just figured I'd share an event I noticed today.

Lately we have been having some crazy weather in texas. There is ice on the ground right now! These people that get out and think for some reason they know how to drive on ice, or think its not bad. Well there is alot of cars in the ditches. It is funny watching them drive. They go speeding down the road and end up spinning out of control. And the bad thing is that they won't learn their lesson!

Of course I miss it! Where was it? Today getting back on the highway, There was a Lincoln spun out right after the blindspot under the bridge. The person in front of me almost hit him, I really dont want to think of you driving any slower [IMG]! I feel that the right lane is the worst lane to be in since thats where everybody gets on and off the highway and where all the nervous drivers are. I saw something like that a few years ago up by Lake Street in Ramsey

I've seen a lot of dumb people going way too fast here, and a lot of wrecks too. I did slide off the road once, but i was going about 5mph on a turn, and it went to ice while I was turning, but I just slid in the direction I'd been going and off the road, no big deal though.

I've almost been in one and I'm no longer Mr.Speed Racer on the way to school. I was flying as usual cause i was late over our via duct (big ol' 4 lane bridge going over our stockyards) when I noticed that no one was in my lane anymore, I look over and the other was getting filled. I turn forward and there is an accident down the lane...CRAP. I put on my brakes and my skis, or really bald tires, I cant tell when Im driving, begin to slide. Im flying in my Blazer bobsled at forty miles an hour and trying to keep it straight. Not fun! Well, maybe if I had no chance of plowing into anyone or off the bridge, it might have been fun. I get 'er stopped, get over in the other lane, tip toe through the pile up and Im on my way again (slowly).

Back before I got the first Blazer ( the 79 thats now my wifes) while my wife and I were dating we were headed back to my place late one night and just about got taken up by a couple punks racing. Were were traveling on I 75 North of Atlanta where it's 5 lanes. I was in the 2nd lane from the right. We were coming up on a bridge when I notice 2 cars coming up behind me flying!
The two idiots were wll over 100mph. Idiot 1 in a GT mustang and idiot 2 in a midsize 4 door. I said to my wife "what the hell are the two A$$holes doing?" about that time Idiot 1 in the Mustang flys past us in the far left lane. Idiot 2 decides to do a tripple lane change to pass me on the right as were on the bridge. I see him jerk the wheel as my wife ask "whats going on?" I said to her "their crashing". Idiot 2 start going sideways missed my truck by inches! passed us sideways on the right and hits the metal gardrail extension and goes through it like it was paper off into the woods between the hwy and the on ramp. Idiot one in the mustang who is way past me see's his idiot friend has crashed lockes it up at about 100mph and starts spinning and hits the concrete dividing wall and about comes back accross the hwy and almost collects me.
I kept driving. Called 911 on the cell phone and reported 2 cars racing and had crashed and where.
Pick up the late edition of the paper the next day. Seems Idiot 2 managed to kill himself. Both were DUI. Called my bud who was the crime sceen photographer for my county and he happend to be the one that got to take the pictures. He said the skid marks on the 4 door indicated about 120mph when he lost it. He said the kid was dead before the car stopped. Kid had 1 DUI already and was in Daddy's car because his Mustang was totaled in his last DUI 3 months before and had just about killed another friend who was a passenger.
The world is a safer place.
