Anybody else pick them up?
Only if they appear to come from a broken down 4X4 in the immediate area.
Only if it is cold enough they could freeze to death, or it is a lady and kids. No matter who it is the pistol is under my leg, ready to go.
Amen to that!
Thanks, Cheryle. I'd make a joke about helping you with a ride, but, well, you'd probably go gay after.
Not anymore. I stopped and helped an elderly couple that had a flat outside of St Louis a while back and even then I passed them so I could get a real good look around first. It's a shame it has came to that in the U.S.
If they look like they have had some car trouble or are in danger, I just call the State Police. That way they can get some help and I don't hve to worry about picking up a nutjob.
depends, i help any one i can.
often picking up people walking on the road after i see a car parked or broken down on the road, give them a pull, fix it if i can, or drive them to a parts store/call for a tow.
4x4 or peole who spun out are no question.
and I will pick up people in town or in the contry trying to get in town when i have the space/time.
but not the punks with all there bags on the side of the road with a sign.
Usually, as long as the person doesn't give me a bad vibe. Generally don't pick up people with trenchcoats or big baggy clothes that could be hiding weapons, especially since I sold my .45 However I've had a few funny convos with people. One time me and my buddy were going across town and picked up this young guy hitchhiking. I decided to screw with him.. once he was in I spun the tires as I took off and every now and then I'd drift around a corner hehe. He's like oh yea, this is where I needed to go, you can drop me off now!
Also one time I picked up a pair of guys walking from Red Lion. This is a little hick town, generally pretty safe or I wouldn't usually pick up two people. Anyway, turns out they're headed to a local bar. We chit chat about the bar and they say they're gonna try to score. Drop them off and leave. Next day I get an email from a chick I know on myspace saying some guys were hitting on her and said they were dropped off by a guy in a silver bimmer, lol. Small world
in this day and age in our society you would have to be insane to pick up a hitchhiker. women kill too. yea you go by looks and a feeling or vibe, but the one time your wrong could be your last. I for one wont take a chance on a mistake like that just to be a good samaritan or a nice guy.
my family, my life means a hell of alot more to me them some stranger I dont even know. if it was an accident I passed or something where you could tell its someone one in distress that is different. but not just some fool with there thumb up.
I don't pick them up as often as I used to, but there was a time when I'd give anyone a ride. It was a Karma thing, and it paid off eventually!!!
Nowadays, I'll still pick up the odd person. Canmore and Banff are big hippie/backpacker destinations, so there's always someone on the side of the highway outside of Calgary looking for a ride West. I'm not overly worried about getting in trouble- heck, the last two times I've offered hitchers a ride they've politely declined.
They must have sensed the Tweakinator vibe you were giving off
No way, really?
They must have seen that clip of you in your BMW !
so you saying they were smart???
I mean really would YOU get in with him??
HEY WANT A RIDE BUDDY????
That's a pretty cool chop!
And our ruler makes a return appearance!
only if they are young, hot, females and I'm staring in a porno.
I check ID's first.
Sometimes if I'm alone (no wife and kids with me). I've been picked up a few times when I was young and I believe in Karma too.
