I got a Harmon Kardan AV receiver from Santa. In the past I have had Onkyo and Nakamichi receivers. Just wondering how HK compares to them.

Harmon Kardan is very good. I'd rate it up there with Onkyo, Carver and JBL. It's high end equipment.

I have a HK reciver for the surround system, and am very happy with it. Sound is great, and it has enough power to drive my stereo speakers. I believe it is on par with Onkyo, if not better.

which model? in general HK stuff is very nice, but all manufactures have entry level stuff... high end stuff... and then the crazy gazillionaires-only stuff. Onkyo is that way... my HTIB was $400 for everything. If you want to get crazy though, you can spend over $1000 on an Onkyo cd player.

The model is AVR 25 II. Its a discontinued model, been superceded by the AVR 30 I believe. It came out of a stereo store in Russia, box never opened, sitting on the shelf for like 5 years!!! For what I paid ($200) with shipping, I'm very happy with it.
