Text Message King Wins Again DENVER (AP) - July 31, 2006 - Tell Ben Cook he's all thumbs and he'll take it as a compliment. The Utah teen is once again the speed text-messaging king of the world. His thumbs flew through a 160-character standardized message in a little over 42 seconds. The text contains words that aren't just tough to type but difficult to pronounce as well. The text-off was sponsored by Jump Mobile and will be submitted to the Guinness record people. The 18-year-old Cook had set a world texting record in 2004, but lost it to a young woman from Singapore.
