yep factory option. can find plenty around for your year and newer, but the older models, they are harder to find. my opinion and many others will share the same, forget it. youll have to drill holes in the hood to mount it(and they wont be small). our hoods are prone to rust as it is. actualy i thought about this awhile back myself, but decided against it. but if you really have to have one, id find a good salvage yard hood with one on it already. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

I have a Mirco-Machine military K5 glued to my hood! /forums/images/icons/grin.gif It's about 3/4" long and 1/2" tall. It looks a helluva lot better than the stock one too!

That's wierd... Was it a specific option or part of a package? I just started pulling stuff off an '85 that has one, but seems to have the same options as my '88, which doesn't have one.

I'm not sure these were exactly options or not. I talked to a guy who has worked for GM for years and he has a very wide knowledge of all the GM vehicles that rolled off the lines.

I asked him about this and he said that he does not recall ever seeing that option on the order form list for those years. He does realize that some years, makes and models had them and others didn't. He thinks it was purely depending on what plant and assembly line the vehicle was made from and also the trim line, too.
Just one of those where the assembly line "put one on if you feel like it" thing. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif
