DATA ON THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A 2WD AND A 4WD FRAME WIDTH.
CAN A 4WD BE CONVERTED OVER USING A 2WD SUBFRAME CROSSOVER
AND SUSPENSION? ALL THE PARTS LEFTOVER WILL BE CHEAP TO BUY.
ALSO, ARE 5 LUG PICKUP AXLES AND 6 LUG BLAZER AXLES SPLINED
THE SAME OR ARE THEY DIFFERENT? BOTH AXLES ARE A 12 BOLT.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a topless 4wd blazer. It would be cheaper to buy a pickup and then cut the top off if you want open air 2wd.
    Just an opinion. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

you said you can't get 4wd parts where you live with out getting ripped.Have you ever tried mail order or the internet.Nowdays you can have whatever you want sitting at your front door with a simple bank debit card.the longest I've ever waited for anything is a week.
    4wd to 2wd........to each his own,but I don't understand WHY !

Both axles are 30 spline. As long as you aren't using a early narrow width 12 bolt, the axleshafts should interchange.

In another thread, I recommended that you ask your 4wd to 2wd conversion question over at www.67-72chevytrucks.com. There aren't alot of guys on this site with 2wd 67-72 trucks, so getting an answer here might be tough. Most of the trucks at 67-72 are 2wd, so getting someone to measure or take a pic of a 2wd frame should be fairly easy. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Just curious why you thing 4x4 parts are more? I know a lot of folks who travel the TN to buy parts.

Well at least your going to make a more plentiful 4x4 into a not so plentiful 2wd. I been looking for one for years.
For the record your not going to easily make a true 2wd K5 unless you find a real 2wd frame and swap them. The 4x4's have leaf spring rear and front suspension. a real 2wd 69-72 has 4 wheel coil. There is a guy who just posted some pictures of just such a converted K5. He had a few tips in the post.

I go both way's. Once I find the right vehicle I'm going to build a K5 into a slot car of a ride and go run the twisties. I'm looking at building a 2wd Burb but more of a Prerunner style although there is a very cool looking dropped Burb in the 73-91 burb section on the other site.

The 67-72 board listed above is proably going to be a little better source for the info you seek. That site tends to be more street and street rod biased. There as some folks there with some beautiful trucks.
