Anyone use hooker headers on their blazers. They would go on a 90 blazer with a 454. Shorties or long tube? Any problems with interference with frame or other parts?
    Thanks,
    Joe

No matter what headers you get, use the COPPER gaskets at both ends. They are a bit spendy, but well worth it.

I hada set of hookers on my 85 F250 on a 6 inch kit and 36 in swampers. They started to leak a little on my worked 302, after about 1000 miles. I spent a little more and got the expensive gaskets, and retorqued them after about 500 miles and they never leaked again, sounded great and held up like a champ.

Long tubs hang too low; they are also too close to shackles. I think that for anyone who is going to be off road, short tubs are the way to go. I mean really – is the performance between the two worth the clearance issues. Don’t post up stating that your long tubs provide no clearance problems if you are not going to attach a pic that is taken level from the collector…

I agree with a quality gasket. I have ran headers on lots of rigs and as long as you use a quality gasket and correctly torque (and check torque after a few hundred miles) you are not going to have a problem with leaks…

i'm not going to say that they don't hang down a little (at least on the driver side), but they don't hang down like the headman's did. besides wouldn't you be hitting on the spring and shakle first?

Jason, thanks for the pics. By any chance, do you have the part # for those headers. There is some confusion here at the local speed shop. They gave me #2454hkr which I think are for 2wd.

Everyone else has posted using hookers, but with a 350. I'm runnung a 454.

I know I had a minor clearence problem on a 350 with Gibson shorties (at frame on pass, side.)
    Thanks,
    Joe

I use FlowTech headers on my 350sb.... decent clearance from the shackles, nothing to brag about, but they work great, copper gaskets on top/bottom you can't go wrong! I used the paper ones they're crap, toss em in the trash.... I helped George_pimpdaddy install his headmans and was VERY dissappointed with the botom clearance, we're going to have to try and make some adjustments but they will work.... go with shorties, I will next time for sure!
