OK took the truck for a 15 mile trip...did fine. NO sputtering, stalling, anything. 4 hours later, start it up and head back home. the ENTIRE way, every time its under a load (going up hill, accelerating), its coughing and sputtering and cutting out. AND it smells strong of raw gas in the cab. What could it be?

Sounds just like what I am having problems with. Fuel is leaking from the QJet while it sits in the driveway, or while it runs. Causes it to load up and bog, and die repetitively. I had to get the carb filled with fuel, and watch for leaks. Mine is leaking from the drivers side primary bore. I can't determine what is causing it. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I would look into the well plugs, which may be leaking.

    Just my .02!

BTW - I bought my carb from Edelbrock, and plan to send it back to have them replace or service it.

Could be a sticking power valve. The old Q-Jet that was on my K30 had this problem. It would run great most of the time but ever once in a while it would hang up and would flood real bad. When I took it apart the power valve had pretty deep wear marks in it.
