Once you get to Troutdale the main roads are pretty good. Already up to 38* here in Gresham at my house so the thaw is on. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

This is what I posted over on OBH, I am going to postpone the trip a week...

Looks like I will have to post pone the trip to next weekend. I-84
and HWY 14 are shut down in the gorge and is the only reasonable
short routes to get there from Richland, WA.

Not to mention I had to run to Pendelton, OR today and on the way
back came up on a wreck in the fog. I saw people on the shoulder
waving to slow down and began pumping my brakes due to the icy
roads. next I saw a vehicle halfway on the shoulder and halfway in
one lane and moved over to the next lane to avoid that while still
trying to slow/stop. Next thing that appears out of the fog is a
couple of semis stopped and blocking both lanes and I didnt have room
to stop due to the ice. So I found a clear path to the ditch and
went that route. Managed to drive around the wreck in the 2' deep
snow and almost made it back up onto the road before getting stuck.

I looked back to see a semi jacknifed on the center shoulder with his
first trailer across the inside lane and the second trailer across
the outer lane and shoulder. On the back side of that was a low boy
semi trailer smashed into that truck and the truck originally
connected with that in the center ditch, no longer attached to his
trailer. Cars, pickups, and semi's were scattered everywhere.

I was able to put on my tire chains and drive out of the ditch and
make it back to work about 4 hours late.

Just calm enough and able to think fast helped me on that one. Otherwise I would be looking at my truck as a pancake about now. I had a Sears van following me that took the same route into the ditch. He didnt make it out though only being 2wd but looks like he figured following me was the safest route.
