How do i fill torque converter with trans fluid?

    hello, im gettin ready to put my tranny back in and i need to know how im supposed to fill the torque converter wiht fluid and how much, its a 87 with a 700R4 Also, does anyone know where to get a gasket for between the trans and T/C thanks.

    all u hafta do is pour a quart or so in the hole in the TC. not too bad.

    pUt it in n and as for the gasket try napa it should be a round seal. Make sure you put a little grease on the seal before you slid the tc into it.

    I put my TC back in empty. It will fill up from the pump quickly when you start it up for the first time. Wouldn't be a bad idea though. Just pour some in and make sure it doesn't spill out when you have it upright.

    yep as everyone else said....
    grease the seal and dump a quart in the TC before you slide it in /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

    i just put a tranny in yesterday, and i just put it in dry and let the pump fill it up, is there really any problem with that?

    Nope...just make sure you shift it thru all the gears sitting there to get the fluid distributed. Then shut it off and see if you need more.

    If you fill the converter it just helps get the air out quicker. Less filling after the initial fill.
