Radiotech.org has tons of info and lots of folks that can help you out.

The main things you need Radio, coax, antenna, place to mount antenna. The options are limitless. The main factors will depend on how much you are willing to spend.

A true base radio will cost ya'. You can also get a mobile radio and hook it up to a 12v power supply.

The antenna can be fairly cheap if you just get an onmidirectional antenna. They are also the easiest to put up.

Coax should be RG8 or better for lengths more than about 30 feet.

You also want to get your antenna as high as practical and at the same time as close to the radio as possible to keep coax lengths down.

For a omnidirectional antenna I highly recomened the "IMAX 2000" For the radio itself, you can get some good deals on Ebay. I have a Galaxy Saturn. Great radio !!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I really recomened getting a radio that has sideband in it. I talk more sideband then am. Do some research befor you buy a radio. Deside what all you'll want to be able to do. Some people are happy with a strait 40 channel am CB radio. I myself like have more then 40 channels, and sideband is a must for me !!!!!!! IMAX 2000 exposed [IMG]
