I'm curious as to how you all know what seats will fit when you swap seats in your K5? I would love to get some captain chairs with double arm rests, like our 94 burb had- but what do you look for to make sure they fit? Any info is greatly appreciated-- oh I already have buckets, just want them with arm rests.... thanks!!!

If you have a welder, then you can make about any seat fit. [IMG]. I've got some nice Recaro look-alikes that came out of an SVO Mustang (Gasp! Ford parts in my K5????) [IMG]. Just welded the K5 seat brackets to the bottom of 'em and bolted 'em in. [IMG]

But I recall someone on here posting that they bolted a set of later model seats right into their K5. I think they came from a Tahoe or Suburban.

if you have to weld them- are they that safe? What I'm more concerned with is being safe if I were to get in an accident- Its pretty much the same as seat belts, - I want ones that will work LOL! I don't go off road, but I'm thinking if Im on the highway and get hit doing 70- is my seat going to come apart? Thats the reason for them being just "swap" instead of a "rigged it up and it looks okay" seat change--- any idea's or where I can find this out?

    thanks!

Crawl underneath your truck, and look at the seat track anchor bolts, where they come through the body. However they did it, is the minimum I *personally* would do if I were to change seats.

Since I hate making extra holes though, I'd probably look for a way to adapt a newer seat to the existing seat tracks, which would take me two years : )
(although I'm thinking most any 80's seat will be darn close, like out of a Camaro)

I welded the old seat frames to the bottom of the new seats. The seat frames are bolted to the floor pan using the same bolts as before. [IMG]

I bolted in a set of 98 Yukon 2 door seats. Almost a direct fit and they have arm rests on inside but not next to doors. Electric controls, so you need to run 12volts to them. My seats flip forward and slide for access to back seat. Extended cabs and 2 door Tahoe/Yukon are almost a direct bolt in from 92 - 2001. Available in leather or cloth, grey or tan.

I am working on getting the 40-20-40 premium cloth seats (28D package... graphite in color) with folding center seats from the 99-up silverado and suburbans. If I am real lucky I'll find a 3rd seat in matching cloth colors from a similar year suburban.

here is a link to what I am searching for. I've found a ton of them, just trying to find a set under $500.

p.s. If you have an accident at anything over 40mph (especially 70MPH) I think your seats holding up will be the least of your problems.
