Is it worth $85.00 plus shipping?

I would guess so. Texas Ranger (The CB line of Ranger Communications Inc. AKA RCI) RCI has always made quality products in my opinion.

The 936 is easily worth 85 bucks.... especially if it's new. The TR 900 series is basically modeled after the old (Good) Cobra's. The TR-936 is close to a Cobra 29 design. It has all the same features but is built much better than the Cobra models of today. They have a 2 yr warranty when new and utilize SMT circuit boards so they hold up to the abuse of being mounted in a mobile environment much better than a lot of radios out there.
