I always max out the CD to with in 20 secs. Mine always takes 7:32 to "Burn" I use (Veritas) , it came installed on my computer when I bought it. I really like Veritas. It's the easiest CD Burner software I've ever used.

my usual burns at 32x run about 3 minutes and thats a pretty full backup disk (almost 700MB). 2min30sec in the 40x I just put in my Mom's computer and I have 48x waiting to go in my dad machine. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
It takes right at 55minutes for the 4.7GB dvd burner /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

About 2:00-2:30 for a full music CD, I don't think I've used it for data yet. I've been burning cd's like a psycho since I got this new 48x burner.
Nothin like going to do some hard labor in the house and taking 2 minutes out to set up appropriate music for the job... My old burner (2x) took about an hour, and I usually messed up and had it test before burning, so it took double time...
$40 total on ebay, seller messed up the listing, so I got a better burner than I would have if he listed it right and other people saw it.

Hey JJ, what speed is your DVD burner? I have one in my new laptop, but haven't used it to cook a DVD yet. My boss also just bought me an external 8x, that I have yet to hook up, too... That one was a little wierd... I asked for it to archive old server work data, and he handed it to me a week later and said to make a documentary of my house rebuild...

Re: How long does it take your computer to \"Burn\" a CD ???

i got my first burner a little over 6 years ago....2x write, real nice sony writer, paid like 500 bucks for it...
    it'd take 45+ to write a cd...

after burning about 1000 cds on it, it'd only reliably work on 1x speed, then it was near an hour and a half to burn...
i retired it like 4 years ago, never upgraded my computer, so i rely on my burner at work which is an 8x...

once i get a good paying job i'll finally get rid of this p-120 and get something reasonable...had this thing for about 7 years now...time for an upgrade!

its amazing though how well it still works, i just use it for email, ck5, a few word docs, and the occasional porn /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

I have a 48x Samsung and it takes about 2.5 minutes. I usually burn 4 or 5 cd's a week. My contribution to the downfall of the music industry is about 800 burned cd's. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
