okay like the title say in an 8 hour work day how many of those 8 hours do you spend working. I am a network technician for a major newpaper and i LOVE my job. There can be lots of work with two printing plants and 50 remote offices. but most days i spend my day here at ck5 or in our vehicle maitenance garage working some of my stuff or hanging out with the machinist's in our machine shop. i just want to see if anyone else has a GRAVY job like mine /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

I used to be kinda similar, but lately have been up to my ears (Active Directory migration coming!!). PLus, my "second job" has been picking up, so my nights are going to that...

Now I only seem to pop in when I have a minute or two to kill.

So lately, of my 8 hour day, I've been spending 10 working, 2 commuting, and 11 minutes drinking the now-liquid yogurt I bought an hour ago when I thought I was going to have lunch...

I work at ups so in the 9.5 hours I work a day so I would say about 9 with an @hole with a timeclock and a whip riding my @$$. At least the time passes fast, and I have two 4x4 shops, a couple part stores, a trailor supply store and camping supply place on my route so I can duck and chat when I need to. I need a new job!!!

well, when i have my job during the summer, i work as a lifegaurd. i work at bopy scout camp teaching metitbadges and swim lessons to the younger ones. i work from 9-5 on classes with 1 hour for lunch. i also have 2 hours a week doing evening swim. i am "on call" 24 houers a day, though so during any given day i could be fixing up camp and cleaning since we just had a huge tornado come through. but it is fun and the friendships i make are what keeps me there. for one week of camp i got 60 dollars last year and proably not much more this year. it aint aout money here

I think I actually only work 20 minutes a day... the rest of the time I spend it hiding from my supervisor or pretending to do work! But shhhh don't tell anyone... /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif Actually I work most of my day. I do admit I do zone out and at times just don't work only because there's so much crap to do my brain starts to wander.... it keeps me sane to wander. If not I'd snapped long ago! /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

    On a good day:
I'm on flat rate, so if I really get after it I can flag 10-15 hrs or more in a "8 hour" day. It deppends on what kind of job your working on too. Somethings pay better than others.
I usualy work 10-14 hours a day, depending on if we have the work.

    On a bad day:
I've walked out of the place with less than an hour flagged.
Thats tuff to get used to.........
    Lucklly it doesn't happen often.
