I have no idea how many miles it had on my 79 350, but the cylinders were worn about .015", the bearings were starting to show copper, the camshaft was pretty worn and I could almost pull the timing chain to the little dowl for the timing cover. I dont think anything was ever done to it until I rebuilt the heads, so it has been/is a good engine. Especially after the abuse I've put it through. It's just a guess, but I think up around 300k+.

A friend of mine has an 80s model suburban that has over 500k miles without much ever done to it.

My Stepfather has a Chevy Van and its a 97 with 366,000 and he has never done any major work to the engine or tranny (waterpump was the worst thing) He puts about 300 miles a day on it if not more and she's still rollin strong!

I BOUGHT my sub when it had 175,000 on it (it was as stock as they come), and replaced the motor at 242,000 not because it didn't run strong either i just wanted a new motor. Don't know how many miles i have now cause i never hooked the speedo back up, (made noise).

I guess, compared to all of you, my truck can be considered "new." I recently rolled over 160,000 miles. My engine has been great to me. It's still running as strong as day one, and it hasn't needed any internal fixes.
