Wow, you must be a CEO for GM if you run a motor in your truck /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif. I have an ENGINE in my truck.

The reason for this post is to correct the old term motor when relating it to an internal combustion ENGINE. A motor is run by electricity. An ENGINE is ran by using the energy in burning fuel.

Although, if you got a manual and you disable the park/neutral saftey switch, you can crank the engine over with the starter and drive down the road /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Yeah, and a double cardan is not a CV etcetera ad nauseum.
Unless you can't understand the post -- does it make all that much difference? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

blower motor is too. Some of us have a fan motor. The thing that works off vaccum and opens and closes the exhaust blockoff may be considered a motor. I am sure there are a few things in the vaccum systems you could mention.

Yeah, well you dont call starters starter engines or your wiper motor a wiper engine or power windows a window engine. Motor is a hard definition for an electrical device that produces motion. Though you find engine in a dictionary defined as a motor doesnt mean its correct.

Check out the logic: if A equals B and B equals C then A equals C right? But like I explained: saying ENGINE equals MOTOR and MOTOR doenst equal ENGINE leaves you with ENGINE not equaling MOTOR.

I believe along with my very respectable engines/dyno/air flow teacher at Ferris State University that an Internal Combustion Engine should be referred to a an Engine and that a Motor run off of electricity should be called a Motor.
