I have a hookup for a free winch (yay for me) but its in like North Carolina and I live in MI. What I wanna know is how much does the average winch weigh, I don't know what kind it is right offhand. How much do you think it'd cost to have it shipped here... thanks alot.

The Warn site says a 9000i weighs 85lbs if that helps.

does anybody know what would be the best way to send a winch? Would UPS work... I believe you can send up to 150 lbs through ups...

I know a guy that shipped a Warn 8274 via UPS, so it can be sent that way. Check with FedEx as well. They have awesome rates on their ground delivery service, but I don't know what the weight limit is. You need to make sure that the winch gets packed in a pretty sturdy box, as it's likely to get knocked around and/or dropped during its journey. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

max ups weight is 150 lbs. I just used our UPS computer at work to check shipping from this guys house to here and I put the weight in at 150 so I could find out what the max it was gonna cost me is... and it said 65 bucks. Not a bad deal for a winch... Now I just need to wait for this guy to get back to his house, he is a road service tech.

Check out FedEx ground rates too. They usually beat UPS by quite a bit. /forums/images/icons/cool.gif
