ive been pricing headers today and got a best quote of $428 for dough thorly try ys for my 85 k5 4*4 350 with manual trany air connectors and new y pipe. they quoteds its performance at 25 hp which seems like alot. the reason im getting headers is because my y pipe is cracked beyond repair and im not going to have a new pipe made for manifolds. i was wondering if i should get them or get cheap headers and make a y pipe

    Steve,
Don't know if I ever thanked you gave me for all the info on the headers. You talked me into the tri y design awhile ago. Bit more expensive but well worth it. My wife said she doesn't want me getting any more info from you though. Says your reply are just to damn much $$$$$$$$$ LOL.
    Peace

That's about what I paid for mine a few years ago. They are nice, but 25 hp? I felt something, but maybe not that much. Then again, I don't think I'd feel much on my Blazer unless it was supercharged or something!! ha,ha I got mine from Gibson (yes, they are a distributor of Thorley). I remember it was right around $400. I had a cracked manifold, and I couldn't see paying the dealer the money they wanted for a new one (all the junkyard ones I saw were all cracked in the same place!). The only thing I hate is the crossover pipe (the Y pipe) - they make the bend hang extremely low if you have a lift. Mine is now pretty flat on the bottom because of rocks and things, so when I finally put a hole in it, I will have a custom one made that sits up higher, or maybe figure out how to make one that can go OVER the driveshaft...
