whats the amount of travel that a stock shaft will have? I pushed my front together and pulled it apart but i only got it to move 2.5"??
also whats the amount a rear shaft will move? Mine wouldn't budge,LOL been sitting a while.LOL

front shaft is a 465-205 shaft (3/4 ton)
rear is a 350-203 shaft (1/2 ton) 36" all the way out (or where it is stuck at)

Try a vice and an 8# hammer. That's what it took to get mine freed up. *Note to self, do not drive in the ocean again*

Well, all i know is, I can get a good portion of it to compress and expand. at least 4". MAybe more. Maybe less. But a lot more than 2". I wasnt able to remove mine though.

Why would you want to rebuild it though? Front drive shaft see's very little continuous duty, i would thinkt hey would last a long time.

I'm cutting them up and sleeving them cause I can't get to the driveline shop in time for my wheeling trip. and with moving the front axle 3"+ forward and the motor 4" back, I need a longer front and with 57" fords up front, I need all the travel I can get. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
the rear is close, It should actually work fine if I can just get it to free up.
