How rare are 465/203 Combos? I found one in Grand Junction for $150 and was wondering if I should snag it for the adapter and main shaft from the 465 and the 203 gear box for the doubler...Any ideas....?

As far as I know they were only in for 1 year('74).So if you want to do a doubler with your 465 you will need it.I would see if they will pull the range box off and ship just that.Would save you some weight and money for shipping.

Since it is in Grand Junction, I would just take a road trip over there...I think the most desirable piece is the adapter...the of course the 203 rangebox and the main shaft from the tranny...plus I already have a couple extra 205 hanging around...Now I just need a few bills for the doubler kit...

They are fairly rare, although they can be found if you look hard enough. A guy here at work has a 74 K20 with the SM465 and NP203, and he is putting an NP205 in soon. I have dibs on the adapter and t-case once he does the swap. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

They are pretty rare, but they can be found. I've seen a few for sale on this site. $150 sounds like a really good deal to me, I'd snatch it up. I traded a complete NP205 with adapter for the NP203 range box portion and adapter from a member of this sight last year. I've got several 10 spline SM465's, couldn't find or didn't want to pay the price for a 32 spline SM465, so the 10 spline version of the NP203 was the way to go for me. I was even able to find a brand new female input shaft for the 203! I'm also trying to round up everything else for the "Doubler", maybe I can assemble it next winter. Good luck on yours!

$150.00 sounds real good , I just paid $200.00 for the adapter and range box parts and was happy with the deal.
    I think that the 465/203 was available from 1973 to 1975 - mine is from a 1974 truck .
My vote is to get it - they are not that common.....

I was pretty stoked when I found my 465/203 combo..Got it for $200. Was a total nightmare to install though...Heavy bastards. Went from 350/203 to 465/203. I've got a 10 spline 205 in the garage. I've also gotta start savin the pennies for the Doubler kit. I bought my 3/4 ton parts truck for 5bills and it was a 465/203. I took the axles, drivelines, tranny, case, etc... and put it in my Jimmy, then sold about 600 bucks w/ of parts off the truck~! So I actually made money on my 3/4 ton 4spd conversion! Sweet!
