All that stands between me and completely removing my K5 body is getting that damn shifter off. I need to get it off so I can slide the body back and make it easier to get off and out, rather than lifting up and over that freaking shifter. I have the top unbolted but it won't like just lift out and I can't see a damn thing as far as getting it out.

Mine has a collar at at the bottom of the chrome handle. I had to push down slightly and unscrew it about a 1/4 turn. Then it pulled straight out.

Make sure that the tranny is in neutral before you yank out the shifter. That will make it much easier to reinstall. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
