How the hell do I get the bolts out of my bed???

    I was putting ORD 1" Body lift on and I got the front on but when I went to lift the bed I went to undo the bolts and the heads just spin. To make it worse the heads are round and I dont have a way to hold them. Drilling all 8 would take forever (if even possible). Any help would be awsome I have been driving around with just the front lifted. Thanks a lot

    TRUCK: 1980 Chevy K20, 14bFF, 10b F, 350, TH400, NP205, 4" Lift, ORD 1" Body Lift, 35 BFG M/T's. Heddmen Hedders, Autometer Tach.

    If you have a dremel or a die grinder you could cut a large slot in the head and use a monster screw driver to stop it. Might work. If you have new bolts and the dremmel/die grinder you could also slowly and gently cut the heads off the bolts and drop the rest out the bottom. I have never done this but it seems like a logical cure. Wait for someone with experience to confirm or deny this before hacking into them. Like I said, I have not done this yet. Just throwing out some ideas. Hope it helps.

    He beat me to it, I"d say if you have a cut off wheel, or die grinder, cut a slot in them or tack weld them to the bed the grind the tack off. or if you have enough play to push them up a little bit, take a torch to the head

    I like that... wish I would have thought of that... I banged a screw driver into the corner and down the hole .. Now I have big holes near the bolt holes... but that bed is on my pu trailer.... :)

    I used my welder to tack weld them in place then removed the nut. Then I used my cut-off tool to cut the weld to remove the bolt. This was the easiest solution for me.

    I also had to cut a hole in my passenger side floor board to tack the "fixed" nut in place to get one of the body bolts out. Actually I just cut a flap, bent it back out of the way, did the welding and then folded the flap back down and welded it back up. What a fiasco! [​IMG]

    <font color=purple> I have to do the same thing with one if not both of my bolts near the doors as well .......... I'll be cutting out a chunk and welding it back up again. It shouldn't be that bad.
