How to connect wires for factory tach

    Have HEI and factory tach need to make a harness Help!!

    Get a Haynes or Chiltons. They have good wireing diagrams and cost about 15 bucks at any parts store. Other than that, guess and check.

    When all else fails... Check the blinker fluid.

    It depends on what year your K5 is. Fill out your bio or include it in your posts. It's hard to help if you don't give the information to do so.

    There's a brown wire and a red wire commin through your firewall.. the both go to the distributor. they plug into the dist. cap... the red in one and the brown in the other... On my 1978 they only go in one way so you cant screw it up.

    Um... yes officer I know it's too big...

    Most tach's come with 4 wires. A ground, a hot wire, a wire for the light and the wire that goes to the distributor. I made my installation easy by just attaching the wires to the fuse block, except for the one that needs to go to the distributor. And most of the distributor caps are marked
    for the battery and tach connection. I can provide a wiring diagram for you if you need it.
