    If your pan is
    square=700R4 no modulator
    square with a 45* angle on 1 side=TH350 modulator on the side of tranny
    pan has an S-shape on one side=TH400 modulator near the tail housing

    Hope this helps. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

    The pan on the bottom of your tranny, do you have overdrive? It will have a D-with a circle and a regular D on your selctor on the dash, if you have overdrive it is a 700R4

    I'll check tomorrow when it's not dark. What happens if there is no D? Where is the D on my dash???

    you will have a D either way, it just matters if one has a circle around it or not. The indicator will be right above your steering column where it meets the dash. you will either have
    P-R-N-D-2-1
    or
    P-R-N-D with a circle-D-2-1

    Sorry I never mentioned that, but you helped me a bit anyways, my dad has a blazer same year, but automatic, so I'll find out what that has. Is there any advantages/disadvantages of having auto vs. manual? Im pretty sure I have a 465 then, unless the previous owners changed it. Manual guys: Should I stick with the 465, or whats a stronger manual tranny? Thanks for all the help /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

    Pros:
    the 465 is one tough tranny, and the preffered offroad manual tranny, better crawl ratio than auto and not chance of it burning up like a auto.

    Cons:
    having to change gears and work the clutch, clutch disc wear, other than that there are no cons I know of.

    You have been asking a lot of questions lately (which is fine /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif) and I have gathered that you wan't a built 454 with 38's. Your best bet is to run your SM465 than try to swap over to an auto.
