I put a post in the Garage, but it'll probably get buried in five minutes anyways, so I'll put one here, too.

A friend of mine is willing to all but give his '88 K5 to me as long as I can get it from LA. It's not running right now (his guess is a thrown rod), so driving it back is not an option.

Do any of y'all know where I could look to get it transported to NC? Also, how much would something like that cost?

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Unless it's worth a lot I would forget about it. I got a quote from AutoTrans Express and with it running it's $1180 to NC. It will most likely be more since it's not running. Do a search for "vehicle transportation service" for more places

If you decide not to get it, let us know. One of us out here will take it.

[/ QUOTE ]make sure you don't tell them you're hauling a blazer with it, or they'll probably deny the rental... learned this the `Fun' way when we had to get my friend Nate's suburban hauled from Tucson to Phoenix.

Edit: you might do better to look into a 1 way rental on a 2-5 ton flat bed... get the blazer to a loading dock of some sorts, and roll it onto the flat bed, travel from CA to NC with it, offload it at another loading dock, and throw it onto a smaller car trailer.
