Re: What guage wire for rock lights??

How powerfull are the rock lights? How many watts?

I woudn't splice into the headlight circuit.
I'd use a relay for the rock lights and use the headlight circiut to "trigger" that relay.

You'll get much better performance from those rock lights if you wire them with the relay.

Usually those aftermaket lights run about 55watts or more. That can draw quite a few amps(depending on the number of lights used).Wiring them using power from the headlight circuit can cause poor performance of both the headlights and the rock light. Not to mention the possibility of drawing too many amps for the headlight circiut to handle and causing the wires to fry.

I wired 4 rock lights using 12 guage wire. Hot supplied from the junction on the firewall, through a separate fuse block and a lit switch on the dash. So far so good...
