I was wondering what kind of transfercase I have. Is there an easy visual diff between them? The truck is an 82, and I think the case is original but the 350/350 drivetrain is not so you never know. If anyone has pictures, or a good description, I would appreciate it.

I think the 81's were the last blazers that had the 205. I have an '83 that came with a 208. They're both 2 speed(hi low) The 205 is gear driven and cast iron. The 208 is chain driven, made of aluminum and is bolted together. Hope this helps.

No doubt, I have a 208. It works well but I'm always a little leary about it. I've heard some scary stories and sometimes mine makes the same noises as the ones in the scary stories!

dont worry about it untill it breaks! My 208 has put up with some crap and is still alive. Just be sure to service it!! I got high centered on a big terrace and all of the weight of my truck was on the tcase and crossmember and it is fine.
