I went and looked on the axle chart but it dosent say anything about them having anything stamped on them, it says stuff like the 14 bolt looks deceptily like a dana 70. So how do you know when you've found a 14ff and a Dana 60.... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

14FF has a pretty smooth cover compared to a D60 which has a fill plug on the right side of it.

Well, a 14 bolt really looks nothing like a D60 or D70, but the easiest way aside from that would be that the 14 bolt has 14 bolts holding the cover on, the 60 and 70 have only 10.

So how do you tell if it's a FF or a SF for the14... And how do you tell if they're 3/4 or 1 ton, with all the arguing going on I'm really confused.... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

SF has a nearly round cover, the FF has the pointy part on the bottom. FF has the hubs that stick out in the center of where the wheels bolt on, the SF looks like a 10 or 12 bolt out there. 3/4 or 1 ton really doesn't matter, FF is a FF is a FF... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif You could measure the spring perches to see what it came from, but the axle itself is the same.

I find it hard to believe that an '88 Sub would have a Full Floater rear in it.
I would almost bet everything that it has the Semi Floater in it instead.
Unless someone else swapped the Full Floater in it?

Take a look at the hubs. If you can see a bearing hub protruding past the wheels, its the FF, but if you don't see the hub sticking out, its the SF. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

i asked the gut that and he said it came with the 454 and the heavy tow pkg. so to be a full floter the hub pac will stick out....and would or could it have a posi unit in it...
now what if it the SF? /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif

Ohhhhh, so the Sub is a 2wd? 454's were never available from the factory in the 4wd's.
