I really liked the post about how old people were, but i noticed that allot of them were young kids. Hell i am only 20. Were are the old guys? Any original owners out there?

My first vehicle was a 76 Scottsdale 4X4 that my dad bought new in 77 I drove it all through highshool during the late 80's In 93 after i got out of the army i traded back to my dad for a ford escort(gas mileage thing). being 6'4" i lost more than just 4 wheel drive moving to an escort. i drove that thing (all the time missing my truck) till 2000 when i bought a real car...a 2000 Chevy Impala. I have always wanted a Full size K5..low an behld not but 2 weeks ago an opourtunity to buy an 83 K5 was presented. It was one of those "you would be a fool to pass this up" kinda thing. So now i have come full circle now and i feel whole again with my silver and grey K5.

I thought my Computer hobby was expensive......

I bought my first Suburban in 96. Sank it in the Georgia mud 2 weeks later. I sat on that for a few years then I bought my first K5 in 2000. That 77 is what got me into this web site and 4 wheelin. We did a lot of family outings in that thing. I just sold it in Dec because I got a great deal on another Sub. $3600 for a 1990 3/4 ton 4x4. I miss the K5 but it couldn't do all that I needed it to do like tow my 1966 big block Chevelle that I've had since 1987 ( it had a 230ci 6cyclinder when I bought it). The Sub isn't quite the same off road as the K5 but it holds it's own.

My folks got a 73 K5 when I was 13 or 14. I'm almost 39, you do the math, I'm too tired. I got home from Japan in 83 and bought it from them for $1500. I think I got screwed. It was rusty as all get out. But it ran like a big dog. Even out ran the cops on more than one occassion in the Omaha area before I finally parted ways with Uncle Sam's Air Force. Of course there's the time they cornered me on a gravel road, I don't know you well enough to tell you how that worked out. I finally gave up on it and got a J##p, then a 78 Chevy shortbed. Then in 90 I got an 84 K5, plain jane with a 305. Wheeled the dog snot out of it and the body looked terrible when I got rid of it (rust), but the motor lasted the new owner for at least a couple of months before it blew. That was in 96 when I bought my current 87 K5 Silverado, power everything and a 350. Shucked the rear axle in a couple years and put in 3/4 ton axles from a 76 that my father in law gave me for free. The 73 still holds a special place in my heart though, cause certain things happened in it when my wife and I were very young that just don't seem to happen in the 87. Hell, they don't even happen in the house much anymore. So I guess the moral here is to keep an old Blazer and a young wife. If you need any more priceless wisdom, you know where to find me.

    Good Story...

I have a few good old memories. My Dad bought the 83 in 83 and in 89 we got our first dog (yellow Lab)
I'm 5 or 6 at the time when sitting in the back with my mom and Bro with the little puppy walking in our laps he decided to take a Crap while i was holding him. I cried like a little girl cuz I had a nice warm pile of dog $#it in my lap and 15 more miles till home. Dad had a good time telling me to stop moving when he was hoseing me down with an ice cold garden hose. LOL Any ways I hope to make a few more memories in the K if you know what I mean.......[IMG]

oh you will like this one....

My brother in 1989 was 16 ( so was I.... oh yeah step bro )
anyway he bought a 1 ton gmc pickup for $300. He bought a 3/4 ton pu for $300 and took the front/cab. I bought the leftovers off of him for $150. I put the truck together with 33's and a 82 front. they rubbed some so I put a body lift on. I beat this 350 with 465,000 miles on it for another 50k or so and blew it to smitherines.... dropped the piston and bearing cap out the bottom of the motor.... and took a chunk out of the crank....Then I had an accident. Replaced the 82 front with the 4 headlight 87 front. Drove around and 4 wheeled the hell out of my truck. which had a 350 4 bolt, turbo 400 and NP203 full time setup. Then I bought a truck for $500 that had 4.56's stock, 350 4 bolt knockin, SMC465 trans. I swapped all my body parts onto this rust bucket.... Made my original truck into a trailer.....
Drove around for a bit while my old setup started to rust. so I bought another truck.... a 1982 2wd diesel for $300 and put the cab, fenders, hood and bed on my truck. hence the brown it has now. Truck has been of of the road since 1997 when I lifted it and NJ said haaa haaaa it is toooo high.... so now I am almost legal and I am gonna say.... Kiss my @$$ NJ....
oh well I just took pics this weekend of my truck and trailer... so I will show yall later.....
    peace
oh yeah I have $8k into a driveway ornament that still looks like a turd.....
so now I am 29 and still own my original truck.. in another form but still use it.....
