He is "One Of The Few" that has a ground crew who is out there and catch it all before it hits. It is then folded and packed for the next demo. He's an old war vet. Older than me.... What you don't see in the pic is a long line hanging from his foot with a lead ball at the end. This allows the ball to hit first and then the line and the following flag start to lay down in a line with the wind making it very easy for 6 to 8 people to grab as it comes floating down. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I thought that maybe there was something like that going on. I imagine that catching that flag and rolling it before it hits the ground is one heck of a hard task to complete properly without drawing the ire of the local VFW.

    BTW, are you a member?

No it's not as hard as you think. The thing comes down in a folding fashion so nice and perfect you can't beleive it. Usually it's taken care of with only 3 out of the 6 or 8 we usually have before anyone else needs to get involved. You'd have to be there to see what I mean. But it has been practiced many times over the years and we got it down.

Member of the VFW? Nope... Never thought about it but I belong to too many clubs now. No time for any more and not enough time for the ones I'm in.
