I was going through my Haynes manual at lunch looking at the front hub section.
And it shows the early style K20 (external) late style (internal), early and late K30 but for the K10 it only shows internal manual and automatic hubs.
Did 1/2 ton 4x4's have an external hub in the early years or is this something that is only found on the 3/4 tons?
It got me wondering if that is why the external mounted hubs are refrered to as Heavy Duty.
Great breakdown on how all the different hubs go together.
I was looking at the stock external hub and compared to the Warns that I have both internal and external . Warn wins hands down in the simlicity dpt.
But I gotta hand it to Spicer the ones that I have are some beefy suckers.
I would have to say that a u-joint would blow out before they let go.

Does anyone know if the 1/2 ton early style had the external
    hubs?
I am assuming that they did but am not sure.
I have seen a bunch of 3/4 ton rigs with external hubs but I do not remember seeing any 1/2 tons with them.
