Deer and Elk mainly but I get a Bear and Cougar tag because I never want to run into a Bear again, be forced to kill it and not have a tag for it... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gifI use a 270 and a 30.06, think I'll get a longer barrel for my Mossberg and hunt some Turkeys this year or next... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

[/ QUOTE ] /forums/images/graemlins/thinking.gifI was thinking of going to black powder, then I figured I'd let everyone else do it and then I'd be the only one in the woods come modern firearm... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

    dude a post without Paul...
    Hunting yes!!!
Plan on doing both Deer and Elk, this is my favorite time of the year. Because of my back I can not do the things I used to do (hunting) but it is GREAT to get out of town with my hunting buddies just even to be the camp cook...I look forward to it every year.... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Geez, a guy at the rifle range I was at last week started firing black powder next to me without warning. All I was using were those stupid foam ear buds... What? Did you say something?

I shot black powder in boy scout camp when I was like 15. I loved it!

bolt action 7mm Browning for deer (never even fired it)

    22-250 for deer

Remington pump for deer (kinda cheap)

stainless steel Thompson Center .223 single shot pistol w/500 yrd. scope for those pesky little bastards

410 over under pistol for personal protection. it's good to about 5 yards away. after that, you're just pissing the person off.

many others, but they're mostly collector guns...WAY TO NICE TO TAKE IN THE WOODS!!!

and the nicest weapon of them all, the front bumper of my truck... /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif

Do you have to be any closer to the target to hunt with a bow? I used to shoot in my back yard< but I don't think I had enough force to take down a bear...Then again, I was using target heads, I guess I can see hunting heads doing some damage...

How do you hunt bear? Do you go with a group and push them out (I forget what that technique is called)? I'm interested in bear hunting, but we never seem to see them in game lands, so I'm guessing they're different than deer, etc. I've never been hunting, either, so 'scuse me for what might be dumb questions... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
