Got the good news Thursday! The Hodgkin's Disease is in remission! No more chemo and no radiation needed!

Now the only bad things that will be happening to me now are just CT scans every three months for the next two years to monitor things, and a port flush about the same time too. I'm glad this is all finally over. Now I just have to work on getting my strength and endurance back.

I just wish the doc would let me go back to work quicker so I could then start sending a token payment to the all the hospital bill collectors. :( I've gotten now to where I won't answer the phone if the Caller ID says 'Unavailable', 'Unknown Caller', or looks anything like a collection agency. They'd probably just say "Tough sh**, you WILL pay this money now if we have to send guys to take possession of what you do own if we have to!" if I tried to explain how I can't work until June.

EDIT - If the bill collectors did finally decide to send some people to take possession of what I actually own to pay for the medical bills, I'm certain the first thing they'd take would be my drumset.

Congrats - cancer free is great news. Good to see that you decided to give the lounge another shot also.

As to the bill collectors, try to work out payment shedules with the hospital directly if possible. They are usually beter to deal with than third party collectors. Don't blow them off copletely if you can help it as they will 'step it up' on you.

Congrats! Glad to hear it. As for the bill collectors, as long as you are sending them money, they cant mess with you. Ten bucks a month.

I would work out a payment thing with the bill collectors, but unfortunately, I don't THINK any of them, even the hospital's bill collecting department, would be willing to accept this argument: 'Doc won't let me work till June, so I'm unable to really start sending you any money until June when I get back to work.' I don't think they'll be willing to wait six more months, and it'd probably instead make them even madder.

I'm trying not to worry about it. Dad's instead been in contact with a lawyer to try and get me Medicaid and SSI disability help so I won't have to pay anything out-of-pocket.

With gas prices continuing to go high and higher, first truck's probably going to have to be a 'Yota 4x4 when I start looking around for another vehicle when I get back to work.

Thanks a lot for the responses everybody. I'm depressed right now, but not in any way because of anything you guys have said today. You guys are :waytogo: today.

    I'm depressed over something else.

Desert Rat, I have this little port device implanted in my chest, under my skin, that I've had ever since the chemo started. It allows quick, easy access to my veins and accessing it with a big needle was the primary method of administering my chemo. It has to be accessed and flushed periodically now to keep it from clogging up.

    Yep, and here they are:

Step 1: Get my strength and stamina back. Will be done partly by going and practicing everyday with the high-school band as guest musician from 1:30-3:00 everyday.

Step 2: Get back to work in June and start saving every penny I make.

Step 3: Finally buy my first 4x4 and start having REAL fun at Tellico.

Actually, I'm going to stick with the doctor's recommendations of waiting until June to go back to work at Industrial Opportunities, Inc. I'm still just on leave from that job and they haven't cut me loose from there, and they would really like me to come back ASAP. They love me there.

Besides, not working for the moment is actually working in my favor in my dad's efforts to try and secure help in paying off the medical bills.
