I wasn't going to say that you where only 22 and I am 40.. Thought I'd let you say that.. Take some advise from somebody who has seen a lot of sh@t with drinking.. If the doc says stop drinking you should at least slow down a lot.. And ask to see the test on your liver and have him explain what they all mean..

Chaz keep you chin up. I also have a thyroid problem, been dealing with it for almost 2 years now. I haven’t been through as much as it sounds like you have but 2 years ago during Hot August Nights I ended up in the hospital with kidney stones, that was not fun.
Just stay up on taking the meds and don’t be so hard on yourself.

Had the same prob - thyroid quit, but I didn't know it either for over a year. Was feeling a little sluggish during ski season one year, gaining weight no matter what I did, my temp was only 94 all the time. Went to the doc and he said I was close to clinically dead. And I should have been in a diabetic coma by then (blood suger was going between 400-600 - 400 will put ya in a coma). Hmmmm.

OK, so went on meds too. Took over a year to stabilize. But it's a small price to pay.

Do what the doc says and live a long and happy life.
