Are you sure it's slipping, and not squealing?

my 88 has 1 serpintine belt that is for the alt and you can over tighten that one. i didn't know you had a single belt set up, my mistake, break out the old bar of soap, and see what happens. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif ps check to make sure your new a/c has the same amount of grooves on the pulley as your old one??

Sounds to me more like a case of something not quite right with your a/c compressor. /forums/images/icons/mad.gif It takes a lot of resistance to make a serpentine belt slip. When the alternator seized up on my S-10 a few years ago, the belt had enough grip to stall the engine once it came back down to idle. /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif The starter couldn't move the engine until I removed the belt.

I think my sub "1989" made the same noise, the day after I had the engine steam cleaned.I thought my AC had gone out but later guessed-figured it was the factory belt tensioner pulley.? A local shop told me to have it replaced, because of my high milege /forums/images/icons/confused.gif
